The tour will then continue on to the area of the Theatre Massimo for some free time at leisure before the return to the ship .

Taormina
After a short driving from the port of Messina, you will arrive in the wonderful Taormina. The town, from the hillside perch 675 feet above the sea, offers spectacular views from the sweeping coastline to the mighty Mount Etna.A walk along the town is a relaxing promenade among narrow roads, small squares and nice shops among the historical façade of Palazzo Corvaia and the incredible beauty of the Greco-Roman theatre, dating back the 3rd century but rebuilt during the Roman period . With its excellent acoustics, the theatre is the second largest theatre in Sicily .
You will have then some free time to stroll among the boutiques and shops before getting back to the bus and form there to the port of Messina
Catania
The first part of the tour will be carried out by bus, so to give you a general introduction on this Sicilian town, boasting Greek origins and still preserving traces of the past dominations. Your drive will take you up to the Monastery of the Benedettini friars and will pass by the Greek theatre, almost totally hidden by the latter constructions. Your tour will pass by one of the most famous opera house in Italy and maybe of Europe, Theatre Vincenzo Bellini, the great musician who was born in 1801 in Catania. After the driving part, you will continue by walking: the centre of the town can be considered Piazza del Duomo (Duomo’s Square). This elegant square it is surrounded by a Baroque ensemble including the famous Elephant Fountain. From here you can glimpse at Palazzo Senatorio (The Town Hall Palace) another interesting Baroque building.
At a short walking distance you can reach the Cathedral (Duomo) dedicated to Sant’Agata.
The Cathedral has a remarkable façade. To the left of the Cathedral, you can see the another church called Badia di Sant’ Agata – all these buildings contribute to the harmony of the square. Some free time will give the opportunity for some shopping and maybe for a “cannolo tasting” the typical Sicilian sweet specialty.Re board your bus for the transfer back to the ship.
